Teresa Hei

This is a joint blog by everyone involved in our educational DVD business. Mandarin Mom and Bao Bei's Mom are of course the parents, and we keep our kids busy and involved in the family business by starring in the DVDs and blogging. They are Katya, who writes Katya Cooks, and Nikolai and Wesley who jointly blog as Cultural Detectives. Hope has to learn to read before she can blog.

Mandarin Mom: I'm a first generation Chinese American. My parents were born in China, then immigrated to Taiwan. I was born in Taiwan, and immigrated with my family to California when I was 10 years old. My Chinese has deteriorated significantly since then! I would love to become perfectly fluent in Chinese, and move beyond my 1st grade level vocabulary. I struggle with encouraging my two kids to speak Chinese at home. I'm inconsistent, and can definitely do a better job practicing what I preach.
